Meetup #2

  • Dogpatch Labs The CHQ Building, North Wall Quay Dublin 1 Ireland (map)

We are delighted to announce the speakers will be as follows;

How to read a million emails in 10 minutes
Michael Crawford – Barnett-Waddingham
Unstructured data is everywhere and companies have a lot of it.  The problem is that it’s messy, unwieldy and hard to make sense of.  You know in your heart there is a lot of information in there if you could only figure out some way of getting at it.  We were “given” access to a year’s worth of emails from a financial company and asked to “knock yourself out”.  This short, humorous talk sets out what we did next.

Blockchain-powered insurance risk transfer
Stan Nazarenko – Co-Founder and CEO, Piprate
If data is the new oil, do we need an insurance data pipeline? How to establish one source of truth for the insurance value chain. Innovation in the insurance industry is constrained by legacy data management practices. Insurers are experiencing mounting regulatory pressures and high costs of writing business. This talk will provide a discussion and a roadmap to building a secure and efficient data highway to connect clients with the insurance value chain participants using Blockchain technology.

Prevention and Increasing Policyholder Retention using the Weather
Mark Stephens-Row, The Weather Company, an IBM business.
In a competitive landscape where policyholders are not loyal to any insurance brand, it is imperative providers differentiate themselves in other ways than price. The Weather Company are helping insurance companies to use unique, hyper-local weather data to increase customer retention and reduce policy pay-outs in ways never possible before, and in this discussion we plan on giving you a sneak peek into our secret.

This event will be in the theatre down in the 200 year old wine and whiskey vaults at Dogpatch Labs. It's a great venue but seating is limited so please be sure to register in advance using the button below. We will be starting just after 6:00pm. The talks will be followed by a panel Q&A session and there will be time for networking afterwards over good beer and pizza.
