UNC Charlotte Risk Management Program Students @ Dogpatch Labs

  • Dogpatch Labs The CHQ Building, Custom House Quay Dublin 1 Ireland (map)

Very few people working in the Insurance industry seem to have made it a conscious career choice. Even many successful leaders will say that they “fell” into Insurance but once involved, they realised that it can be an intriguing, challenging and highly rewarding business.

Accordingly, we often hear about the challenges of engaging young people and getting them excited about careers in the wonderful world of Insurance. With this event, InsurTech Ireland had an excellent opportunity to do just that.

We organised a special private event for a visiting group of students and faculty from the Risk Management and Insurance Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. They were joined by a number of Irish university students and interns currently working for leading insurers in Ireland.

The group were treated to some excellent talks on a very broad range of insurance and insurance-related topics. Charismatic speakers discussed the Irish insurance ecosystem, the underserved pension market, risk modeling, behavioural science, reinsurance, sustainability, and blockchain & digital twins.

We also discussed diversity, equity and inclusion in some detail.

Understandably, DEI and sustainability were of particular importance to this group of young people who will hopefully become the future of Insurance.

A very special thank you the sponsors who funded this event, SCOR, Hannover Re and South East Technological University.
